Top 3 Areas To Be Strong In As A Man In 2024

Google anything with men in the title you are bound to get the words “toxic,” “health,” “gym”, “well-being”, and “deathrate” come up as results in some of the top results. Go ahead and try it.

So here is a some up of the top 3 areas to focus on in 2024:

  1. Physical Health

  2. Mental Health

  3. Business Health

These are not in any order as lifestyles are different for us all. The crux to this list is the subjectiveness to each area. We will break this down into smaller sections below:

Physical Health

There is no argument that the more fit you are the better you are. That is a big statement and falls into the – yes, but category. Your primary care doctor should also be a present factor within this grouping. I started the grouping with physical health first for one reason, I can only really attribute this to my personal experience. Yes, I can link this blog to all sorts of articles proving why it is important to be physically fit, and that will not satiate the “yes, but” scenario because it is not YOUR life.

For instance, I have struggled with weight my whole life. I have tried multiple diets, and yes, I am aware of will power. We find our own path through life. The awesome thing is, there are more options now for being physically fit than there ever have been before.

  • There are 24/hr. gyms.

  • Virtual personal trainers

  • Diets galore

  • Bariatric surgeries

  • In-Person trainers

  • Sports to participate in

  • CrossFit

  • And more, and more, and more

This is not to say it is any easier. For those overweight it is not about options, it is about depression. That is why I put physical health first.

Mental Health

Here is where the work needs to be done to move up to the “I can do it!” mentality. From experience, and you fall into this category, men have been in a drive from childhood to do and provide. Our value is based on doing and providing. Little to no push for personal care beside the basics of personal hygiene. This is the obstacle.

Like the physical health above there are some options:

  • Seeing a therapist is becoming okay for men on a large scale.

  • You can call 988 if you are feeling unstable or suicidal.

  • I have seen a rise in men’s groups on social media, I am a part of a few, and they have been welcoming to have a space to discuss other men’s topics.

  • Self-help books are also a low profile to learn coping mechanisms.

Our mental health as men has been unsupported and silenced covertly in our upbringing. Do not get me wrong, I have had to tell myself “Buck up to the man bar and deal with this” a few times. Plus, there are other choice phrases that I cannot share here. Plus, having served in the military (salute to all my brothers) I have been called everything I can think of, and do you know what – It did make me a tougher person. The call to action on mental health is that we (men) need to step up and care for each other.

For instance, a couple of months ago I had lunch with a connection, and we shared experiences about being fathers and the burden of being the strong shoulder to care the load as the kids were going through challenging times. All the while my friend was slowly losing to his own depression for a lack of ability to share the experience with someone in the moment.

My personal belief, letting those emotions out, whether presently or in the future, will be a health burden lifted. I am not sure it can reverse the grey hair that I am starting to get but keeping those moments inside is more dangerous.

So where am I going with this section, as boys and then men we are conditioned that failure is not an option. Watch any “manly” movie and you will hear that line. Even as adults, and even in two income households, our temptation to feel that “we cannot fail” is riding our backs, even if we do not say so.

Business Health

What can I say here, I am only just now getting comfortable in my own skin to drive forward and pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship. This might then be an age thing or a culmination of good physical health & mental health, with a sprinkle of added skills for taste. If you feel good in your head and your body, that means confidence is high. Then you can act in a forward motion, learn new skills, be in a healthy relationship, grab the bull by the horns. Confidence is a great balancer to failure. With confidence the world is your oyster.

Here are 3 helpful business options:

·       Learn sales – selling yourself for promotion and selling products are the same skills.

·       Learn a language – the world has shifted to be a multicultural/multilanguage situation.

·       Learn project management – the organizational skills in this arena will be priceless in any field or project.

When the Top 3 Areas to Be Strong in As a Man In 2024 are worked on there is a self-awareness that grows inside, a desire to follow a dream, a desire to realize you are worthy of good things, a desire to achieve. This desire should be present in our lives, it gives us purpose. It is the pinnacle of Maslow’s pyramid.
